11. Lithuania, JonEd & Patty: As a late addition, we are happy to have this pair of veterans. They have to the potential to be much higher up the board, but with the late notice and lack of training, I wouldn't expect too much from this pair.
10. Zimbabwe, Joe K & Jess: This squad is looking to improve upon their last place finish in 2020. Rookies teams always struggle and they were no exception. Now that they understand what they are signed up for, we think they will have a little more success in 2021. Key word, a "little".
9. Netherlands, Teddy & Sam: This couple has solidified themselves as a below average team, and they are okay with that. They will compete in Kan Jam as Teddy is lethal with the slots. However, it wouldn't shock us if they were pointless the rest of the day.
8. Greece, Mark & Lily: After training in the minors for several years, Mark finally got the call back up to the show with his girlfriend Lily. It remains to be seen how she will react to the bright lights, but we are optimistic about this team finishing in the middle of the pack. Just don't expect them to compete for a title.
7. Russia, Jon & Jen: Jon was underwhelming in 2020. With just 8 teams in the field, he finished 5th. He was outclassed by both of his brother-in-laws as he is clearly the worst Beerlypian of the 3 by a wide margin. Luckily, he gets Jen back in 2021 as they hope to have a better showing. This could be their best year yet, but we still don't think they have any chance to win it all.
6. Costa Rica, Jack & Mary: As one of the most respected Beerlympians after her historic run winning back-to-back championships and getting gold in Beer Pong three consecutive years, Mary has fallen on hard times. The last five years, she hasn't finished higher than 5th. After being dubbed a child prodigy when we was beating college kids in beer pong as a 1st grader, Jack has not lived up to the hype. When he got the call-up in 2018, there were a lot of expectations and he has met none of them. This team has a lot to prove, we just don't think they have the skill to do it.
5. Guatemala, Joe & Adri: After finally winning a championship two years ago, this team showed they have what it takes to win. They trained, practiced, and put in the work to be a champion. They will definitely start off strong again in Kan Jam, however, their lack of preparation and sleep will catch up with them throughout the day and we think they will show the effects of having a new born. They will compete all day, but they aren't winning this year.
4. Canada, Walsh & Maria: One of the most interesting teams in the competition is Canada. While Maris is universally loved, Walsh is universally despised making them the most polarizing team in the field. They have the skill to win and event here and there and we believe they will have a good day. If they can show what they can do in Beer Pong, it could even be a great day! However, their day will not end with them bringing home a trophy.
3. Tahiti, Tom & Kim G: After winning 5 years ago, Tom & Kim reunited in the 10th Beerlympics looking to be the first partners to ever win twice together. Looking at the field, they are going to have a great shot at that. We would feel more confident if they had been able to train more, but they were able to pull it off 5 years ago, so who is to say they can't do it again. They are one of the few teams that can win table and field games which gives them a huge advantage. Look for them to be in the hunt at the end of the day..
2. Scotland, Tommy & Kim K: This team is one of the highest ranked to have never won a championship. One year aside, they have improved every year they have competed. Last year they finished second. They have trained, they are in their prime and this could be their year. They are also one of the rare teams that can win on the tables or in the field. If they can keep it together and pace themselves, they could find themselves winning their first championship. However, they will have to overcome the overwhelming favorites...
1. Egypt, Tyler & Gina: After the single most dominating performance in Beerlympics history, Tyler and Gina are looking to repeat in 2021. There has never been a performance like them last year. They won gold or silver in every event and scored 6 points higher than the all-time record! Now, there are those who are putting an asterisk by their accomplishments due to the Covid shortened field. They have choked many times with a 12-team field, so it will be interesting to see if they can repeat with a typical number of teams. Regardless, their performance last year makes them the heavy favorite in Beerlympics X!
